These dramatic images show the moment a leopard hunts down an impala. Taken by photographer Kevin Dooley, the photos show the hungry leopard quickly closing in and killing the impala.

Dooley said that the leopard killed the impala after a few days spent in the Mashatu game reserve in the Tuli region of Botswana. He added: "This was certainly a highlight image of my life. We were photographing this leopard with her cub.”

Both were showing signs of being hungry. "Soon the leopard left the cub in the safety of a thick bush and headed down the river bed in search of food,” Dooley said. “We followed the leopard at a distance, and within a half hour or so we spotted a lone male impala.

"We held tight and let the situation play out, with the leopard scanning the area and looking for a way to sneak up on the impala without being detected.” (Caters News)
