Retired South Jersey corrections officer now sought as a fugitive

TRENTON — Authorities want the public’s help in finding a retired corrections officer accused of human-trafficking charges.

Kurt Young, 56, of Dennis, Cape May County, is a fugitive after failing to appear at jury selection for his planned trial, the state Attorney General’s Office said.

Young is accused of paying to have a 14-year-old victim brought to his house in Dennis Township for sex in February 2019, the agency said in a statement.

Anyone with information about Young’s whereabouts is asked to call 877-WANTED-2.

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a cash reward for information leading directly to his arrest.

The people accused of transporting the girl have admitted guilt to conspiring to commit trafficking and facilitating human trafficking.

Derek V. Ross, 30, of Atlantic City was sentenced to a 20-year prison term and a $15,000 fine. Tiffany N. Davis, 43, of Egg Harbor Township received a 15-year term in November 2023.

Young was scheduled for trial in September 2023 on charges that included conspiracy to commit human trafficking, engaging in prostitution with a child, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

A judge issued a warrant for Young's arrest when he failed to appear for jury selection.

It urged people to call 855-END-NJ-HT if they’re being victimized by sex traffickers, or suspect someone is being exploited.
