Find out which roads will be closed for the Augusta Half Marathon this weekend

Traffic will be impacted in downtown Augusta and near the Augusta canal as runners compete in the 2024 Augusta Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Saturday.

The event, which runs 7-11:15 a.m., will begin and end at the Augusta Common at 836 Reynolds St., according to a news release from the Augusta Sports Council. There will be traffic impacts in and around the downtown Augusta, the Augusta Canal, Summerville and the Lakemont/Lake Olmstead area.

Due to potential effects on area businesses, residents and businesses along the route have received a mailer with all affected roads and contact information for the Augusta Sports Council, according to the release.The Richmond County Sheriff's Office will reopen intersections as soon as the last runner has passed and expect to finish by 10 a.m., according to the release.

Street and lane closures will include:

Half Marathon, 10K and 5K – 7 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

  • Closed: Reynolds Street (eastbound and westbound lanes) will be closed from Seventh Street to Ninth Street Saturday from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. for the start line truss and race start. The start line will be broken down and Reynolds Street will be reopened as soon as the last race is underway.

  • Lane: Reynolds Street, northwest, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

  • Lane: 13th Street Bridge, outside lane toward Carolina, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

  • Lane: 13th Street Bridge, outside lane crossing into Georgia, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

  • Lane: St. Sebastian, southeast, from Reynolds Street to R.A. Dent Boulevard, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

  • Lane: RA Dent Boulevard from St. Sebastian to Laney Walker, west, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

  • Lane: Laney Walker from RA Dent Boulevard to Druid Park Avenue, south, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

  • Lane: Druid Park Avenue, from Laney Walker to Central Avenue, west, from 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Central Avenue from Druid Park to Baker Avenue, south, from 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Baker Avenue, from Central Avenue to McDowell Street, east, from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  • Lane: McDowell Street from Baker Avenue to Katherine Street, south, from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Taylor Street, entering AU Summerville Campus, from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Taylor Street to Fleming Avenue from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Runners will run counter-flow around the Fleming Avenue traffic circle at AU Summerville from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Walker Street to Bomford Road, west, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

  • Lane: Bomford Road from Walker to Arsenal avenues, east, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

  • Lane: Arsenal Avenue from Bomford Road to McDowell Street, south, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

  • Lane: McDowell Street from Arsenal Avenue to Glenn Avenue, west, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Lane: Glenn Avenue from McDowell Street to Bellevue Avenue, north, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Lane: Bellevue Avenue from Glenn Avenue to Peachtree Road, west, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Lane: Peachtree Road from Bellevue Avenue to Henry Street, north, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Lane: Henry Street from Peachtree Road to Fleming Avenue, east, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

  • Lane: Fleming Avenue from Henry Street to Williams Street, north, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:40 a.m.

  • Lane: Williams Street from Fleming Avenue to Johns Road, east, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Johns Road from Williams Street to Gardner Street, north, from 7:45 a.m. to approximately 9:45 a.m.

  • Lane: Gardner Street from Johns Road to Milledge Road, southeast, from 7:45 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m.

  • Lane: Milledge Road from Gardner Street to Broad Street, north, from 8 a.m. to approximately 10 a.m.

  • Lane: Broad Street from Milledge Road to Lakemont Drive, southeast, from 8 a.m. to approximately 10:15 a.m.

  • Lane: Lakeshore Loop to the Lake Olmstead Trailhead from 8 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m.

  • Lane: 13th Street Bridge, outside lane crossing into Georgia, from 7 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m.

  • Lane: 13th Street Bridge from Canal Trail Exit to Reynolds Street from 7 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m.

  • Lane: Reynolds Street from 13th Street to the Augusta Common, southeast, from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 11:15 a.m.

Medals for Miles Kids Fun Run – 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The race will start inside the Augusta Common, according to the Sports Council.

  • Road: McCartan Street from Broad Street to Jones Street

  • Road: Jones Street from McCartan Street to Ninth Street

  • Road: Ninth Street from Jones Street to Broad Street

  • Road: Broad Street from Eighth Street to Ninth Street, to finish line
