STAUNTON — Sweet Addie's announced on its Facebook page Monday night that it would be closing up shop in less than two weeks.

Brent Schoenduby opened the Belgian waffle shop at 132 W. Beverley St. in Downtown Staunton in the fall of 2022.

"When we created Sweet Addie's, we never imagined how well it would be received by our community," the Facebook post reads. "What started as a dessert spot, transformed into the busiest breakfast spot in town."

The post said that customers were lined up every weekend waiting for the shop to open.

"Sometimes you have to step back and look at the big picture to see what is best for your family," the post continued. "With that being said, we've made the decision to close Sweet Addie's as we prepare to move from this wonderful town we've been a part of for over 15 years, to be closer to family."

The post announced the last day of service as Sunday, March 10.

Schoenduby did say in the post that Latitudes Fair Trade Store in downtown Staunton that he and Anna Schoenduby own will not be closing.

"We absolutely love Staunton and we will be commuting back and forth to see friends, enjoy the other wonderful restaurants and things our queen city has to offer," the post reads before thanking everyone who made owning the restaurant "a memorable experience for us and hopefully you as well."

They have to be out of the building by the end of March and the business and assets are for sale.
