Strong winds, heavy rain leaves thousands without power across Delaware: The latest

As a powerful winter storm brought strong winds and heavy rain into Delaware on Tuesday night, power outages have been reported across the state.

Delaware had a total of 10,288 outages at about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday. That's about 2.3% of 438,104 customers. New Castle County had 9,336 of those outages; Kent County, 386; and Sussex County, 566.

At about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Delmarva Power had said that most of its outages would be fixed later Tuesday night, though some customers outside Smyrna may not have power restored until Wednesday morning.
