Voting early for the Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk primary? Here's where to go
Early voting for the only county-wide election this year is set to wrap up Tuesday. On the ballot are the presidential primary and general sessions court clerk primary.
Shelby County residents will have to choose between the four Democratic candidates who qualified for the primary election. Only one Republican qualified, Lisa Arnold, and she will be the Republican nominee for the seat in the general election in August.
The general sessions court clerk is responsible for keeping track of records and funds for both the civil and criminal court divisions. To read about the Democratic candidates please read The Commercial Appeal's question and answer story.
Who can vote early in the 2024 primary election in Shelby County?
Any person eligible to vote in the presidential primary and county primary election can vote during the early voting period. To be able to vote in the primary, you must reside in Shelby County and also have valid voter registration.
To check if your voter registration is valid, please visit the Tennessee Secretary of State website.
When and where can you vote early in Shelby County, Tennessee?
Early voting locations are hosted throughout Shelby County and are open Monday to Saturday.
Early voting locations are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Times for Saturday locations vary by week.

The first Saturday of early voting, Feb. 17, early voting polling locations will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The second Saturday of early voting, Feb. 24, locations will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Times for all locations will be the same with the exception of the Shelby County Election Commission, which will be open on weekdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Early voting is held at the Shelby County Election Commission's Downtown location in the James Meredith Building at 157 Poplar Ave.
The first Saturday of early voting, the Shelby County Election Commission will be open 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The second Saturday it will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
