Canton, your love of pizza has been rewarded.

According to a recent study ranking the top 250 pizza cities in the U.S., Canton was rated as the second best in Ohio and No. 132 nationwide.

“It’s not surprising to me that Canton is on that list," said Dave DiPietro, co-owner with his brother, Steve, of Canton’s beloved Pizza Oven. "We (Pizza Oven) started so early to introduce pizza to the area, and we’ve kept our recipes the same. I remember stories my dad would tell me about introducing pizza to the area. In 1956, people really weren’t familiar with pizza, so he would bake pizza and give them away, so people knew what they were.

“Canton has an appreciation and love of great pizza, and Pizza Oven is proud to be a part of it,” DiPietro added.

The study was conducted by Pizzello, a California-based company that specializes in commercial-grade artisanal pizza equipment designs and sales, and listed cities based on the average ranking of pizza restaurants on Google.

Five Ohio towns made the list. Cleveland was the top Ohio destination at No. 71.
