Woman dies after being struck by NJ Transit train near River Edge station

An NJ Transit train struck and killed a woman near the New Bridge Landing station in River Edge on Saturday afternoon.

The pedestrian was struck around 4:45 p.m. None of the 120 riders and crew members on board the Pascack Valley Line train were injured, an NJ Transit spokesperson said.

The spokesperson declined to identify the victim.

Pascack Valley Line rail service was suspended in both directions between Spring Valley, New York, and New Bridge Landing.

NJ Transit police are leading the investigation, the spokesperson said.
