Bucks County schools closed for snow Tuesday. Do you have an online learning day?

With snow on the way, schools in Bucks County are beginning to announce closures for Tuesday.

Central Bucks School District will be closed, officials announced shortly before 6:50 p.m. Monday. The district will make a decision about the school board meeting Tuesday afternoon. "The District’s Before and After Care program is closed, and all after school activities are canceled," the district said.

Pennridge will have a traditional snow day, but "students will report to school on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, as a regular school day," according to the district

Neshaminy will also close their buildings, the districts announced. Neshaminy will have an asynchronous online learning day. "All students should have their Chromebooks at home, charged and ready to go in the morning," the district said in a statement.

Morrisville is closed and will have an asynchronous day. "All District offices will be closed, and office staff will work remotely," according to the district.

Bristol Township schools are closed. "After consultation with weather experts, local authorities and stakeholders, due to inclement weather and travel safety concerns, the Bristol Township Schools will move to a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, February 13," the district posted on its website. "All extracurricular events and activities are cancelled."

Council Rock is closed for a traditional snow day, according to the district. "Activities at all Council Rock schools and facilities are canceled for Tuesday, February 13 as well," according to the announcement.

Bensalem has closed its schools, but will have an online learning day.

New Hope-Solebury School District is also closed. Students will have an asynchronous learning day.

Bristol Borough School District will close Tuesday, but students will have an online learning day. "All Students are expected to log in to their Google Classrooms to complete all assignments. Attendance will be recorded in each class and determined by completion of assignments," the district announced.

Centennial will have will have a Flexible (Virtual) Instruction Day on Tuesday. "As you may know, a Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is used to support school districts in providing a teaching and learning option when circumstances prevent the delivery of instruction in its customary manner or location," the superintendent wrote in an online message.

Bucks County Institute of Technology is closed, but will have an online learning day.

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology will be closed, but students will participate in online learning.

Upper Bucks Technical School will be closed tomorrow, but there will be a make up day on Feb. 20, officials said.

Palisades School District is closed.

Quakertown Community School District has a virtual learning day Tuesday.

Pennsbury students are not impacted by the pending story as they already had off due to the special election for state representative in the 140th District, which will still be held.

What does asynchronous mean?

An asynchronous school day is declared when Bucks County public schools are closed for in-person learning, and students instead have to log in to Google Classroom or their school’s individual online learning platform to complete the day’s classwork.

According to the New Hope-Solebury School District, on asynchronous virtual learning days, students can work at their own pace.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly expects a wide range of accumulations in Bucks County, but some could see up to 8 inches of snow before the quick-moving storm moves out Tuesday afternoon.

The brunt of the storm is expected to hit Bucks County during Tuesday morning's commute, including the times when schools open in the morning.
