Here's how much snow North Jersey towns got so far Tuesday

North Jersey towns got over an inch of snow by Tuesday afternoon from the latest winter storm and could get a more before the precipitation turns to sleet and freezing rain. Then colder air will freeze everything to create potentially treacherous conditions for the evening commute.

Many school districts announced closings or delayed openings for Tuesday.

Here are snow totals as of 4 p.m. based on readings taken by the North Jersey Weather Observers.

  • Sparta - 3.0 inches

  • Cedar Grove - 1.9

  • Ramsey - 1.8

  • Hillsdale - 1.5

  • Bergenfield - 1.4 (as of 6 p.m.)

Ramsey now has 5.8 inches for the season (all this month), compared to 10.9 inches all of last winter, according to Bob Ziff of the North Jersey Weather Observers. Cedar Grove, meanwhile has 6.1 inches so far this season.

Bergenfield:  1.3 inches

Paramus: 1.2

Hillsdale: 1.5

Sparta: 2

Stewartsville: 1.7

Butler: 1.5

By late afternoon, Ramsey was up to 1.8 inches.
