Local man dies in early morning motorcycle crash in Port St. Lucie

PORT ST. LUCIE — A 35-year-old Port St. Lucie man died following an early Thursday motorcycle crash, according to Port St. Lucie Police.

Police at 2:18 a.m. Thursday went to Southwest Rosser Boulevard and Southwest Paar Drive for the single-vehicle crash, police stated. The location is north of Southwest Becker Road and just east of Interstate 95.

A preliminary investigation revealed the 35-year-old man rode a Yamaha motorcycle south on Southwest Rosser Boulevard approaching Southwest Paar Drive. The motorcycle left the roadway, striking a tree.

The motorcycle rider, identified as Joshua Boothby, of Port St. Lucie, was thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Boothby was wearing a helmet, said Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, police spokesperson.
