Numerous flights canceled, airport officials say check early and often
Nearly two dozen flights arriving and departing Will Rogers World Airport Monday had already been canceled by 9:30 a.m. with close to a dozen more delayed.
Many of those canceled or delayed flights originated or were bound for locations such as Denver, Seattle and Chicago. Stacey Hamm, public information officer and marketing manager for the airport said this is to be expected given the current conditions.
"With the way that the weather situation is throughout the United States, even northeast — so if you have flights heading to Chicago and beyond that heading northeast — you can definitely expect either delays or cancellations due to the weather there," Hamm said. "Considering the type of airport that we are, we are an (origin and destination) airport so we are constantly sending people. When you leave Oklahoma City, you're either going to a major hub which will then take you across the United States so that's to be expected."
Hamm said that in addition to the real-time flight statuses online at https://flyokc.com/, downloading the airline's mobile app is the best way to stay in contact with your airline for updates.
