MARTIN COUNTY − A Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy on a motorcycle operating in front of the motorcade escorting former President Donald Trump from a court hearing in Fort Pierce back to Palm Beach County on Monday crashed on Interstate 95, according to a Martin County sheriff's official.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before 3 p.m. at about the 106 mile marker, which is about 4 miles south of State Road 714, Martin County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy John Budensiek said.

“She seemed to have lost control and end-over-ended the bike and then she flew and ended up landing off the shoulder of the road,” Budensiek said.

Trump was in the Alto Lee Adams Sr. U.S. Courthouse during a scheduled hearing Monday in Fort Pierce on his federal classified documents case.

Budensiek said the deputy was operating in front of the Trump motorcade as he traveled back to Palm Beach County. No one in the motorcade, including Trump, was injured.

“She was running ahead, trying to make sure everything was clear when she was involved in this crash,” he said.

Budensiek said the Martin County Sheriff’s Office was helping the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Secret Service, as Trump attended the hearing.

Budensiek said Martin sheriff’s deputies went to the scene. The ambulance in the Trump motorcade stopped to help, as did Palm Beach deputies.

He said the Palm Beach County deputy was conscious but lethargic, and she was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.

Budensiek said the crash is being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol.
