Portage County inspections: One restaurant receives 29 violations and requires reinspection

The following are the latest results of Portage County Health Department inspections on licensed food establishments and other types of businesses, which the Stevens Point Journal reports monthly.

Almond

  • Dee's Bar & Grill, 1371 Division St.: Jan. 30: Four violations: Soap not available at food employee handwashing sink in kitchen (corrected during inspection); three-compartment sink faucet in kitchen not in good repair; vent hood above grill dirty; tile flooring under three-compartment sink cracked and not smooth.

Amherst Junction

  • Tomorrow River Community Charter School, 10186 Portage County M: Jan. 22: No violations.

Custer

  • Custer Roadhouse, 2221 Custer Road: Jan. 15: Two violations: Person in charge not training employees about their responsibility to inform person in charge about any signs, symptoms or diagnosis of foodborne illness; establishment does not have procedures that address responding to vomiting or diarrheal events.

  • Hometown Bar, 2310 Custer Road: Jan. 15: No violations.

Plover

  • B's Eggrolls, 2810 Plover Road: Jan. 16: Three violations: Chlorine sanitizer spray not used according to label instructions (corrected during inspection); prepared eggrolls, crab Rangoon and spring rolls are held out of temperature control for safety and discarded at the end of their hold time but no written procedures for this process were available for review (corrected during inspection); plastic fork utensils stored or displayed in a box near the drive-thru window where the food contact surface could be contaminated (corrected during inspection).

  • The Bamboo House, 3012 Village Park: Jan. 24: Seven violations: Cutting board not cleaned and sanitized between using for raw lobster and raw beef (corrected during inspection); consumer advisory missing disclosure statement for steaks; spray bottles of degreaser stored near dish machine not labeled; drinking cup without cover in food prep area (corrected during inspection); employee coat stored on shelf above container and packages of food items in kitchen (corrected during inspection); ice machine basin leaking; knives stored between prep tables in kitchen (corrected during inspection).

  • Pizza Hut, 2321 Post Road: Jan. 8: Two violations: Left side and back side of fryer dirty; posted retail permit expired.

  • Section 715 Throwing Co., 3248 Mecca Drive: Jan. 19: No violations.

  • Stevens Point Area Pizza Ranch, 1300 Commerce Place: Jan. 25: Four violations: Water temperature for sanitization rinse in the ware washing machine is not at proper temperature; large plastic bin used for storing chicken batter cracked on side; condenser fans in walk-in cooler dirty; floor in walk-in cooler dirty: Reinspection: Jan. 26: Four violations: Large plastic bin used for storing chicken batter cracked on side; gauges to measure wash temperature and final rinse temperature for dish machine not working; condenser fans in walk-in cooler dirty; flooring of walk-in cooler dirty.

  • Mickey's Tip Up, 4231 80th St. S.: Jan. 29: Four violations: Hermetically sealed salsa for sale from unapproved source; weed killer stored on shelf directly above ice scoop and ice machine in back room (corrected during inspection); no procedures for responding to vomiting or diarrheal events; handwashing sink blocked by a colander and beer bottles (corrected during inspection).
