Swansea is hiring a new superintendent, and you can meet the 3 candidates. Here's how.

SWANSEA — Three people are up for consideration as the next superintendent of Swansea Public Schools, and the public is invited to meet them and ask questions.

The town is hosting a community night on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hoyle Elementary School, 70 Community Lane.

Scott Holcomb, Craig Levis and Robert Silveira were chosen by the superintendent search committee. They will take part in three panels at the school, one comprised of families and community members, another with school staff and a third with students.

Why does Swansea Public Schools need a new superintendent?

Superintendent John Robidoux announced in an Oct. 30, 2023, meeting that he would not seek to renew his contract when it expires on June 30. At the time, he cited a difficult work environment with the town School Committee.

“I don’t want to leave Swansea, I love Swansea,” he said during the meeting.

He said committee members’ unwillingness to meet with him to discuss concerns, give input on his performance and ask questions indicated to him that they were uninterested in keeping him in the position; committee members at that meeting expressed regret over the situation and asked him to reconsider.

Robidoux became Swansea’s superintendent in 2016. He had been with the school system since 2006.
