Horizon City man arrested in teen's hit-and-run death; one dead in far East El Paso crash
Two people were killed in separate traffic collisions Wednesday night in far East El Paso and Horizon City, police said.
One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash about 10 p.m. along Interstate 10 at the Loop 375 interchange in the far East Side, El Paso police said.
Further information was not immediately available as the crash was under investigation by the police Special Traffic Investigations Unit.
Driver arrested after teen pedestrian killed in Horizon City
A driver, who was allegedly driving while intoxicated, was arrested after a teen pedestrian was struck and killed in a Wednesday night hit-and-run collision in Horizon City, police said.
Horizon City police arrested Oscar Solis, 54, on charges of intoxication manslaughter and accident involving a death, police said Thursday morning.

Miguel Angel Romero, 17, who was a student at Horizon High School, died at Del Sol Medical Center after he was hit by a truck at about 6 p.m. at the intersection of Darrington Road and Pawling Drive, police said.
Witnesses told police that the pedestrian was hit by a red Ford F-150 that left the scene. As the investigation into the fatal collision continued Wednesday night, investigators found the truck and Solis, who was arrested at his Horizon City home, police said.

Solis is being held under a $120,000 bond at the El Paso County Jail in Downtown, according to a jail log. Jail records show Solis has two previous arrests for driving while intoxicated in 2003 and 2017.

The Horizon City Police Department stated on a Facebook post, "We want to take the time to thank the community for all of your help and to the witnesses who stayed to render aid and provide all information available at the time. We mourn for the family, as they are in our thoughts and prayers and for the loss of life of this young man."
