With several inches of rain, high winds and flooding in the forecast , many schools are calling for delayed openings on Wednesday, one is switching to virtual learning and few schools will be closed.

Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency that went into effect at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Do not underestimate this storm,” Murphy said on Monday. "The highest intensity will be in the darkness of night.”

On Tuesday, many schools canceled after-school activities in anticipation of the storm and the announced state of emergency.

Woodland Park goes virtual

Woodland Park Public Schools announced that it is switching to virtual learning effective Wednesday until likely Tuesday, Jan. 16 because the borough "is at risk for flooding over the course of the next few days with the flood prone areas being direct access points to our schools."
