We need more nominations for Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Student of the Week. Here's how to particiate
In late January, the Journal Sentinel launched a new weekly program designed to recognize exceptional high school students in the Milwaukee area.
"Student of the Week" has so far featured high schoolers described as being "exemplary" and "the epitome of humble and kind" by their teachers and school staff. It's pointed to the impact that students like them can have on the day-to-day school environment: they might "always have a smile" and bring positivity, or be "the first one to show up" and "last one to leave" at events.
But the Journal Sentinel needs more schools to send us student nominations. Each week, a reporter publishes a list of finalists and online poll for the public to vote on. That poll remains open between Mondays and Thursdays, with a winner announced Friday mornings.

How do I submit students for nomination? The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has contacted contact high schools with information about participating in the Student of the Week contest. Schools have access to an online form that allows them to input information about the student nominee, including a short bio and headshot.
High school principals, if you have not received information about the Student of the Week contest, please send an email to studentoftheweek@jsonline.com.
Who is eligible to become the Milwaukee Student of the Week? Students from public, private and home high schools in the Milwaukee area.
How will the Student of the Week be chosen? A reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reviews the nominations each week, then narrows the selection to a handful of finalists. Each Monday, a list of finalists appears online accompanied by an online poll for the public to vote on. Polls close at noon Thursdays.
When and where will winners be announced? Winners will be announced Fridays online at jsonline.com and in print each Sunday.
